This time, we will focus on an important topic at the core of Reiki practice, but also of all work with energies – surrendering to energy and understanding the importance of the natural flow.
Many Reiki practitioners, especially at the beginning of their journey, feel elation and enthusiasm as they explore the wonderful world of Reiki energy. However, after the initial excitement, they may encounter resistance and a perception of a lack of results. This phenomenon is not at all uncommon.

Reiki calls for mental and spiritual purity through breathing, meditation, mantra, and chanting. Energy hygiene involves cleaning our energy channels and ensuring a stronger energy flow. However, energy hygiene will not be effective enough if we try to control energy. Controlling energy and any phenomenon in life is often a consequence of our inner desires and ego. It is like trying to control natural elements, such as water or waves – they have their flow, naturalness, and trajectory that we can hardly influence or change at will.
Instead of controlling, we should direct the energy in the desired direction and allow it to continue to flow in its natural course where it is strongest. When we surrender to this process, the results often come unexpectedly and daily. Surrender expresses trust in the universal life energy and allows it to flow without resistance. Just as a surfer rides a wave, we must coexist with this energy and use its natural flow to reach our destination.

Reiki practice teaches us to surrender to the energy and work without blockages. Learning to relax and avoid the desire for control is essential for harmony in our personal and spiritual growth. Control often gives rise to resistance, not only in energies but also in interpersonal relationships. If we try to control, the other side responds and reciprocates with resistance or closure.
The universal, omnipresent Reiki energy, has its naturalness that our desires or needs must not change. When we try to change this naturalness, we lose its power, and the energy stops functioning in our favor. We often cannot see the whole picture of causality in our actions.
Today, we can learn a lot from observing the world around us – attempts to control natural processes often lead to disasters, which we witness daily. However, if we develop an awareness of how to work together with natural flows, we can enjoy the ease of life.
In this way, we work by following universal laws, and our personal development flows smoothly.
